Costa Mesa Auto Repair

Very impressed with the experience at Honest-1 in Costa Mesa. I called this morning and spoke with Brad and mentioned I had a check engine light I was hoping he could help diagnose. Sounds like they're pretty busy, but he said if I left the car with him he should be able to check it out. Sure enough a few hours later I got a call letting me know that the issue was a relatively minor one that I could choose to fix now if I wanted to, but wasn't urgent and didn't really need to be repaired right away. The price he quoted me to fix the problem seemed pretty reasonable, but in the end he really suggested I wait to fix it this time. I have been to several other auto shops here in Costa Mesa over the past few years, but have always felt like I had to haggle on price to get a good deal or research the service recommendations to make sure they were indeed necessary. I appreciate the straight-forward diagnosis of the issue my car was having and will definitely be back in the future.

Called and a very nice gentlemen answered the phone in a really fun nice way that was cool we made a appointment for our car to get checked out because there were dashboard lights going off they said they would check the codes and see what was causing the issue and how to fix and repair it. My fiancé brought the car by and left it at this shop all day she finally got a call about five minutes after they were closed she works down the street and it's our only car she called frantically because they had it all day and told them we needed it back same day so she wasn't stranded at work luckily she was able to get a hold of someone and went in. They said they checked the computer codes and it said nothing was wrong and they reset the computer system told us it only said alignment was off which it wasn't even the mechanic said it was aligned perfectly. Basically we left it all day they said nothing wrong no clue why it was having the lights go off just reset it and sent us on our way and my fiancé drove home sure enough lights went off again and they said to bring it back they would check again. We talked to a friend who her uncle works at another shop and we took it there just to see maybe a second opinion within a hr we had a mechanic at another shop come out and tell us the lights were going off because 3 brake light bulbs were out and the transmission fluid needed flushing and replacing low and behold 400 dollars later the car worked perfectly fine and is now fixed we also did one set of brakes which is why that places bill was 400 but the point is 1hr and we had a answer the shop we went to gave us a loaner car and everything this shop told us basically nothing is wrong with it. We got our car back from the other shop and oh low and behold the lights are all off and everything is perfectly fine again. Seriously honest mechanics? Why couldn't you have figured that out???? Gave two stars because guy who answered phone was nice but beyond that ridiculous. Glad we got a second opinion found a true honest mechanic shop.

I don’t normally write reviews but I felt the need to do so this time. Their name says it all!! Being a single women having to trust an automotive shop with your car is stressful.You’re just praying they know what they’re doing or that you’re not going to get ripped off. These guys are the BEST, RELIABLE & HONEST people I’ve ever come across. The first time I went to them was to have my brakes done. I’d gone to the dealership and was told I was due for new brakes and was quoted a price. I looked online and found Honest 1. I was expecting to pay about $50-$100 less than what the dealer quoted me. I was blown away when they called me saying that my brakes were perfectly fine and were good for about another year. They could have very easily ripped me off. But they did not. I hung up the phone and told my coworkers if you need your car worked on this is the place to go! I don’t stress about my being worked on anymore. My daughter now takes her car there. No matter if it’s an unusual sound, oil change, smog check, air conditioning, brakes or whatever else they’ve got you covered.
